Due to the deformation caused by the bending of the foot, the sole of the shoe may wear, crack, or break. Due to sharp edges cutting through notches and punctures, cracks or fractures may also occur, gradually turning into cracks when subjected to continuous bending. Extreme temperatures (especially below zero degrees) and pollution (such as engine oil) may also accelerate shoe sole cracking.
Therefore, testing the scratch resistance of shoe soles is very important, and there are multiple testing methods to choose from, so selecting the correct method may be difficult. This article describes three main bending testing methods and applications for rubber and plastic shoe soles, as well as the equipment provided by SATRA for conducting these tests.
